FitCamp is designed to teach young children how to properly exercise and instill healthy habits for life-long fitness. The FitCamp members will be exposed to different training programs to increase their general fitness in a fun and safe environment.

Some examples of the types of exercises campers will be doing include high intensity interval training, cardiovascular endurance, cross training, yoga, dance, and basic use of fitness equipment. We will expose the students to mainly body weight exercises, in the beginning. Our campers will have to show proficiency in their body weight exercises before they have the privilege of adding weighted equipment. This will give our campers the foundation they need to progress safely. When campers are ready, some equipment they will be using are dumbbells, medicine balls, weighted plates, and kettle bells.

Benefits of Summer FitCamp:

  • Develop better focus
  • Lifelong fitness habits
  • Decrease or prevent obesity
  • Increase confidence
  • Comradery among other children
  • Increase athleticism
  • Get in shape for sports
  • Decrease or prevent injury during sports
  • Teach the importance of goal setting

Campers will be asked to keep a journal to record their results and a reflection of each session. This will help set goals and, give them concrete evidence of their success, and increase their confidence.

CAMP DIRECTOR

Jaclyn Nolan

Health and fitness has always been a big part of my life, and it has greatly influenced my career path. I am a health and physical education teacher at Fernwood Middle School in Egg Harbor Township, as well as a CrossFit Level 1 trainer at CrossFit Absecon. I have also gained strength and conditioning experience through coaching gymnastics at Bright Stars Gymnastics Academy. Currently, I am a dedicated member of CrossFit Absecon, working out 4-6 times per week, and competing in local competitions. My goal is to teach students how to properly exercise and instill healthy habits for life-long fitness. The children will develop better focus, decrease or prevent obesity, increase confidence, increase athleticism, decrease or prevent injury during sports, learn the importance of goal setting, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
