Dan Carney
AGE: 34    HOMETOWN: Absecon    OCCUPATION: Trauma Bay Tech- Graduating Nursing school In Spring
WHEN DID YOU START AT : July 2021

FAVORITE WOD:
So far, probably "Kalsu". There's a little extra motivation with the Hero workouts. But I also like the simplicity of just two movements and a number to reach.

LEAST FAVORITE WOD:
I don't remember the exact details but there was a workout with a whole lot of wall balls, burpees, and double unders with a 400m run every 5 minutes. That workout killed me

SPORTS & FITNESS BACKGROUND:
Growing up I played sports year round. In high school I ran cross country, played basketball and then track in the spring. I have coached High school basketball at Atlantic Christian school for the past 10 years.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES/INTERESTS?
Family would be first. I'm in a crazy season of life right now and just enjoy the time I get to spend with family. I'm a big Philly sports fan. Love watching Eagles, Sixers, Phillies. I really enjoy coaching basketball and the camaraderie of a team that comes with it. I also still enjoy playing sports when I get the chance, mostly golf and basketball.

HOW DID YOU FIRST GET EXPOSED TO CROSSFIT? Take us back to your first WOD.... what was it, anyhow did it feel?
Coming to CrossFit Absecon was really the first time I was exposed to CrossFit. I've worked with some people who've done it for a long time but it was the first time I experienced it for myself. I don't remember my first WOD, but I remember loving that a workout was already put together. All I had to do was work hard.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT IMPACTED YOUR LIFE?
CrossFit has had a big impact on my life both physically and mentally. I have only been doing CrossFit for 6 months but I already feel that I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been. My wife and I are in a crazy season of life. My wife is graduating grad school in the spring and I will be graduating from Nursing school. We both work full time and have two little boys, 3 years old and an 8 month old. CrossFit has not just been a small escape from a crazy schedule but I truly believe it has provided me with more energy and endurance, both mentally and physically, to power through this busy season.
